Live Chumley with David

In 1995 Matt and David teamed up to take "Sir Bernard Chumley is Dead.....And Friends" to Edinburgh, spending the festival with a residency at the Gilded Balloon. Here is a tongue-in-cheek review of the "And Friends" Edinburgh show. Here's another one from the magazine Comedy Review.

They followed up this success the following year with the "Sir Bernard Chumley Gangshow" which was nominated for a Perriet Award. This 1996 show was moved to the Assembly Rooms, and then the Pleasance in 1997. The shows received rave reviews from the critics with Matt being widely hailed as a "genius" and David widely hailed as a "sidekick". Here is a review of the Gangshow.

After Edinburgh success, the Gangshow, renamed "Sir Bernard Chumley's Grand Tour" toured Britain in 1997.

In 1999 Matt and David took Sir Bernard to the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, Canada.

More Recent Chumley

Most recently, Sir Bernard was seen in Rude for a Reason (David was in this but was cut from the broadcast version shown on BBC, '99. Listen to Matt's bit on the Lucas and Walliams Archive). You can see both Matt and David (who played Peter Andre, royal watcher) on the video cover.

He was also on 'Drop The Debt!' (BBC, '99) and 'Jack Dee's Full Mountie' (BBC, 2000), and was heard on 'The Now Show' (BBC R4, 2000).

Matt also toured Sir Bernard solo in 2001. Read a fan review from the gig at The Bull.

He also did a very recent gig as Sir Bernard at the Comedy Store (September 2003)

Sir Bernard is also, of course, a regular character in Little Britain.
